EM FALSO (in a false or unsafe manner)
The artist addresses one of the references in her research: cement rocaille — false stones and tree trunks from the romantic garden surrounding the gallery, a landscaping style introduced to Braz l by the French in the 19th century. The result is a proposal that intertwines the concept of the sublime in landscape with montage and ellipse (omitting parts that do not compromise understanding the whole) in works full of “air” and interstices. “More than imagistic, we learned to edit, to deal with false events and things left half-finished as if that were enough. Roccailles are allegories that help me reflect on the almost bodily condition of the image today and on how physical bodies seem to lose substance through it,” says the artist.
